When I saw the trailer for the new Superman movie this weekend, I realized that I can’t name a single Superman bad guy besides Lex Luther. There had to be others, right? I vaguely remember that the guy who killed Superman was some monster with a kryptonite skeleton or something like that, but nothing else. And yes, I could just look Superman up on Wikipedia, but what fun would that be? (on a side note, is there a verb form of Wikipedia, like Google? Could one say “go wiki/wikify Superman” or something like that?). I guess the reason I don’t know is that there weren’t any Superman cartoons that I watched growing up, unlike Batman, X-Men, and GI Joe.
Without looking it up, can anyone name any Superman villains besides Lex Luther?
if I go crazy then will you still call me Superman?

How can you forget General Zod? Come to me son of Jor-El; kneel before Zod!
And Doomsday is the creature from Krypton that ‘killed’ Superman. Those are the two that I can think of.

Well, in my own defense, I never saw any of the Superman movies. But I do know from Office Space that Superman III involved a scheme to steal fractions of pennies from a bank.

You can’t forget Darkseid. He’s like the badass of villians:
“Darkseid doesn’t just want to physically crush his enemies; he wants to shatter their spirit, to humiliate, debase, and demean them. It’s that little extra measure of cruelty that sets him apart from the other villains! He is the most powerful, the most sadistic, the most willfully evil villain. Darkseid is the one villain who has caused Superman to lose control. He knows how to push Superman’s buttons, and he revels in doing so at every opportunity. This is both a means to an end and a fringe benefit, a diversion to him. His offer to spare the Earth if Superman joins him seems rather boiler-plate to me. He doesn’t really think Superman’s going to take him up on it; it’s more of a token, “don’t say I never gave you a choice” kind of thing. And, as for his brainwashing/adoption of Superman: straining Superman’s reputation is ultimately more important to him than his by-the-numbers plot to conquer Earth.”
