Just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday here are a few more videos of Emma for everyone to enjoy. On November 13, exactly two weeks before Thanksgiving, we had started to notice how close Emma was to being able to crawl. She had learned to get on hands and knees, and she could kind of rock forward and backward. I predicted that she would be fully mobile by Thanksgiving. Prediction confirmed. You can see the progress she made in just eight days in the video below.
And second, we have a rather long video of Emma and yours truly “playing football.” Which causes her to giggle uncontrollably.
I also have three new videos to share with you. First, we have Emma trying to figure out how to use a sippy cup for the first time.
Next, we catch Emma on camera during a chatty moment. She has a lot of these, but she seems to get shy around other people and around the camera, so a lot of you haven’t been able to see this side of her.
Lastly, we have a video of Emma trying to eat an apple. While she has a few teeth that have broken through the gum line, she’s not quite up to the task of eating an apple. The other voice you hear in this one is Emma’s Aunt Heather.
She is actually even more chatty than the video shows. Especially in the car. She loves to talk to you while you are driving around. Then again, she does have a mirror in the back seat so she might think that she is talking to that little girl more than she is talking to you. She can say several different things too. Her most common phrases are “dadadadadada”, “mamamamamama”, and “bababababababa”. She does sometimes just say “mama” or “dada”, but not necessarily to the right people. She actually calls Punky “dada” sometimes, but I think she is really trying to call her doggy.

I haven’t made a post in quite a while (over two weeks). For those of you who have been eagerly anticipating something deep and moving, I have to apologize, as this post is decidedly meh.
I am sharing a comment on Yes Man, Jim Carrey’s newest movie. If you haven’t seen the trailer, I’ve conveniently posted it below.
Here’s the thing. I’ve already seen this movie. Except last time the guy lied all the time, but now he says “no” all the time. And last time magic forced him to change his behavior, whereas this time he experiences some kind of enlightenment. Other than that, I think it’s the same movie as Liar Liar. While Liar Liar taught us the importance of telling the truth, Yes Man will teach us the importance of giving in to peer pressure.
I think I’ll say “no” to this one. (See what I did there? I’m so clever.)

I’ve been meaning to put up some videos for a while, and now I’ve finally done so. Sorry there are so many, in the future I’ll make them less six-at-a-time. Anyway, this should give those of you who haven’t seen her much (and those of you who have but can’t get enough) a chance to see her in movement.
Note: I’ve tested this video player with IE 6, IE 7, FF3, Safari (Windows Beta), Chrome Beta, and Opera 9. Please let me know if it does not work for you.
First video (below) is from last July (at just under four months old). Here you’ll see and hear Emma’s shrieking laugh as I kinda growl into her belly.
Next is a video from the same day, wherein you can see Emma paying with her Elerat before dinner.
The next video is also from July. Here I try to show you Emma’s reaction to Punky. Also, I hate the way my recorded voice sounds (so does everyone I guess).
Here we have a video of Emma’s first time eating food. I had forgotten how much better at eating food she has gotten since then.
Next is a video from just last week of Emma sitting up (with some help from a pillow) and playing with a moose (she thinks she’s the next Sarah Palin1).
And to finish off this videostravaganza, we have a video of Emma showing off her rolling skills. The final roll seems to defy accepted laws of physics. It reminds me of a wheel that has been weighted at the top so that it will roll uphill. Also, Punky walks by and says hi.
OK, that’s all for now.
1 You can decide whether or not that is a good thing based on your own political/social/ideological perspectives.
This is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a long time. It’s Count von Count from Sesame Street, singing a song in which the word “count” has been bleeped out, with hilarious results. (The video’s pretty old—maybe everyone has already seen this and they just forgot to tell me about it.)
If you haven’t seen something like it before, this is pretty cool. It is a hacked Super Mario World level that can be completed without touching the controller. As far as I can tell, it uses only elements which were already in the game (except it looks like they modified Yoshi egg blocks so that Mario automatically jumps when he hits one). This one is a really impressive one because it is like 11 minutes long and choreographed with anime music. Enjoy.
Any idea how you go about even editing Super Mario Bros. maps like this? It’s certainly on an emulator, but there must be tools available for making your own maps. I’ve never looked into that kind of thing, but it might be fun to try.
There’s at least one level in the original Super Mario World (one of the Butter Bridge maps, if I remember correctly) where you could ‘auto-play’ your way through it if you had a cape and Yoshi. You just run, fly up, and coast to the right through the entire map, bouncing off of various creatures the whole way. Good times.
